The drive east from AYT to Gündoğdu

The airport lies on the eastern fringe of Antalya, so your car never has to cross the city. It joins the D400 almost at once and stays on it: a broad main road through flat fields, greenhouses and stands of pine. You pass the exits for Belek, cross the Köprüçay river, leave the Aspendos turn-off behind and enter Manavgat district. A short road then takes you from the highway down to the hotels on the shore.

All in all that is 65 km and about 60 minutes. There is no mountain section and there are very few bends, which children and anyone prone to car sickness appreciate after a flight.

Gündoğdu: a resort strip rather than a town

The hotels here are spread out, each on its own plot, with lawns and pools reaching towards the beach. Shops and cafés outside the hotel gates are few. That suits families who want everything within a short walk of their room, and couples who intend to do very little for a week.
